It is some of the most powerful poetry I have ever read. And I have read only English translations of her poems, so those who read her in her native Portuguese will experience her even more intimately. They should prepare themselves for imagery, anger, compassion, despair, humor, insight, knowledge of her self and the deepest love for those she loves, especially dad."

ADEUS A UM IDIOTA

Ela costumava ser mais
e os que a rodeavam eram mais
porque ficavam mais
quando ela costumava ser mais
e o mundo era mais
quando ela ainda era mais

Em algum momento idiota
que passou despercebido
como passam todos os momentos idiotas
ela minguou
e bastou um momento idiota
para quem costumava ser mais
minguar

Minguaram as pessoas que a rodeavam
e o mundo minguou
Ficou o momento idiota
que não passou.

Despercebidamente,
assim se vão os idiotas.
