I KNOW IT'S NOT SO

About Patricia Evans' poetry

"Although I have spent time with Patrícia Evans on three separate occasions, I feel I know Patrícia Evans only through her poetry. She hides nothing, she surrenders everything. It is some of the most powerful poetry I have ever read. And I have read only English translations of her poems, so those who read her in her native Portuguese will experience her even more intimately. They should prepare themselves for imagery, anger, compassion, despair, humor, insight, knowledge of her self and the deepest love for those she loves, especially dad."

E SE NÃO MENTIR AGORA / WHAT IF HE DOES NOT LIE TO ME NOW?

E SE NÃO MENTIR AGORA?
(© Patrícia Evans)

.
E se for um herói perdido?
E se ele for vulcano?
E se for homem bravio?
e se apenas for humano?
E se me chegar vazio
se ele me vier mundano,
se me arreganhar as pernas
e assim vier entrando?
E se eu quiser um bis?
E se for aventureiro,
e se me levar à Paris,
se me derramar champagne,
e se me morder os seios,
se não fizer rodeios,
se me atirar na cama
e se me virar na lama
de esperma e de seus beijos?
E se eu quiser pra sempre?
E se for um estrangeiro?
E se for inconsequente?
E se for um brasileiro?
E se for tupiniquim?
E se vier trazendo vendas
e me amarrando os pulsos?
Se ele for alguém que entenda
e se me tiver no impulso
e se for um delinquente
e se me virar de costas
se eu souber que ele mente
e se não mentir agora?

e se eu o quiser pra sempre...
e se ele não for embora?

AND IF HE DOES NOT LIE TO ME NOW?

.
And if he's a lost hero?
And if he's a volcano?
And if he's a wild man
and what if he's only human?
And if he comes empty
if he comes to me worldly,
if he bares my legs
and comes into me?
What if I want "an encore"?
And if he's adventurous,
and takes me to Paris,
if he pours champagne on me,
and if he bites my breasts,
if he does not mince words,
if he throws me on the bed
and if I roll in the mud
of his sperm and kisses?
What if I want it forever?
And if he's a foreigner?
And if he's inconsequential?
And if he's a Brazilian?
And if he's a tupiniquim?
And if he brings a blindfold
what if he ties my wrists?
If he's someone who understands
and if he takes me impulsively
and if he's a delinquent
and if he turns me around
what if I know that he lies
and that he's not lying now?
.
and if I want him to stay
what
if he does not go away?
.
